Joe Papp's version of the Gilbert and Sullivans classic.

I'm not a keen Opera sort of person, I love a lot of dance, can put up with some ballet. But Opera and me just don't get on. So it took alot of encouragement to get me to Regents Park Open Air Theatre, (well done Guy Chapman!) to see 'The Pirates'.
I'm glad I went, it was absolutely hysterical. Helped by it's casting, Su Pollard and Gary Wilmot well supported, turned the production it to pure Pantomime. Not your serious Opera buff's cup of tea I'm sure. But for the normal audience it was great.
Joshua Dallas, a great star, in the not to distant future, also excelled. It wasn't until a few drinks in the bar afterwards did I realise I saw this talented young musical star in the Short lived "Secret Garden."
However the most memorable part of this production, had to be the next morning in my hotel. Gary Wilmot sat in front of me eating his fry up and Su Pollard pouring water down my throat to help fuel a terrible hang over! (thankyou Guy Chapman!!)
